Body of Text Poster

Dalton Trumbo's Johnny Got His Gun is one of my favorite books. Months after reading it, a lot of the poignant imagery and ideas stayed with me. So when it came time to choose a portion of text to create a poster with, I knew I wanted to use something from it. The passage I used is probably my favorite out of the whole work, because of the unique perspective it provides on war. The image I chose for the background is actually from the cover of the book, which was neat to combine with the text.

Favorite Poster

This was the political poster we had to do, and it was one of my favorites to work on. I'm not politically motivated, so I had to flip a coin to decide between which candidate to create a poster for. I really liked the idea of having the lines of texts different sizes yet all stretching the width of the page, so I set the character spacing to reflect that idea with pretty good results I thought. Color-wise, I wanted a lot of it to represent our nation's colors as it was for the presidential election, with the specifics about Romney in red (except for the text block which looked better in white I found) to represent his party affiliation. Overall, this one is my favorite because the process was enjoyable and I liked the style I was able to use for it and how that turned out!
